Ups & Downs is a parent led theatre group for people with Down Syndrome and their siblings.

Ups & Downs was started 27 years ago to provide a safe space for people with Down Syndrome and their families to come together and experience the joy of rehearsing and performing a live show.

Ups & Downs provide our cast  with a whole range of positive experiences: following instructions, working together towards a common goal, overcoming fears, exploring new talents and perfecting new skills. Most importantly our rehearsals are filled with a strong sense of teamwork, where every success is celebrated by all. Leaving without a smile after rehearsal is not an option.

Led by parents, the charity has gone from strength to strength over the decades, and has provided countless hours of fun and friendship for hundreds of people.

It is only made possible by the dedicated efforts of the board, the production team, the costume makers, and our helper volunteers.

But most important are the cast members - they are beautiful, talented and inspirational. The picture on the right shows some cast members showing off their odd socks to mark World Down Syndrome Day!

Our Song

At the end of every rehearsal and show we sing our club song. Click on the video opposite to see how much we enjoy singing this and our audiences enjoy watching us.

The Ups & Downs Song was written by one of the club founders, the late George Barclay, who was a music teacher. He dedicated much of his life to teaching in ASN settings and we are eternally grateful to him for producing this song for us.
